False sickness and injury claim investigations.
It never ceases to amaze me in this job how the emphasis can swing from one type of enquiry to another. Prime example being we can have a couple of weeks where we are predominantly process serving the next few weeks could be taken up with matrimonial surveillance the next we could be busy doing tracing enquiries etc. But not only that it could be that we are predominantly performing those tasks in certain towns such as an influx of process serving in Rugby or a number of instructions to carry out surveillance in Birmingham or trace missing persons in Leamington Spa.
What we are seeing this last few weeks are a number of false sickness investigations in Coventry and false injury claims in Coventry, Warwickshire and beyond. Our experience shows that for every ten matrimonial surveillance’s carried out, roughly only three investigations out of the ten will prove anything untoward meaning that not everyone that is suspected of being a love cheat actually is cheating.
When it comes to false sickness or false injury claims the odds change quite dramatically in the opposite direction. Most of the surveillance we carry out on persons suspected of ‘Swinging the lead’ are actually proved to be doing so with a 7/10 ratio in favour of the false claimant! We have just taken on two new clients that intend on stamping this out within their workplaces.
These type of investigations work well for the client because although they may have to pay for our services, once news spreads around the workplace how a work shy colleague was caught out, it makes the rest of the workforce think twice before making a false sickness or injury claim, saving them thousands in the long run.
