We are often called upon for employers involved in employment tribunals (previously known as industrial tribunals) where ex employees are saying that they can find no work since being unfairly dismissed or that they have lost property or vehicles due to their "Unfair dismissal". Hoping for an extra payout in compensation.

An example that we were involved in last year involved such circumstances, where an ex employee was saying that due to his dismissal he had lost his home as he no longer had the finances to continue paying his mortgage. A surveillance was set up at the address he had supposedly lost and he was not seen at the address for a few days but other people were seen, giving the impression that his story could indeed be true.

After a few discreet enquiries it turned out however that not only did he still indeed own the house but he was also renting it out to migrants whilst he lived in a very nice house in an affluent side of the city, drove the latest model Mercedes 4 wheel drive car and was employed in a position that paid far better than his last job.
