The value of a gps tracker

Recently we were contacted by a firm who were going through an employee tribunal case against one of their former employees. Making a long story short, this ex employee claimed that since his dismissal, he was unable to find work, what with the recession etc. not helping in the current economic climate. After meeting with our clients it was decided to place the ex employee under a couple of days surveillance to see if indeed he was working or as he stated was out of work.

After two fruitless days of surveillance it was decided to place a gps tracker under the ex employees vehicle to monitor his movements. The client was given a web login where they could see any activity. This was also being monitored by ourselves. This had the advantage of cutting costs down for our client as they were now not paying expensive costs for lengthy surveillance to catch our man. Instead paying a fixed daily rate for the gps tracker . On the second day the tracker followed him to an area where he was possibly working, and an attendance was made immediately by ourselves to the location. On arrival there was our man donned in work clothes working as a tree surgeons labourer. Time and again over the following weeks the tracker monitored his movements and time and again we caught the ex employee on video and photographic evidence. When faced with the damning evidence, although his ex employers had to admit to an unfair dismissal, the compensation claim for loss of earnings was not made saving our clients thousands of pounds.
